As President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure draws to a close in a matter of days, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has hailed his remarkable leadership in Nigeria’s fight against HIV.
In a recently released documentary, titled “President buhari’s transformative impact in nigeria’s hiv response“, President Buhari’s commitment to addressing the HIV epidemic and improving access to treatment and care was highlighted.
The documentary sheds light on the significant progress achieved under President Buhari’s administration in reducing HIV prevalence and expanding the reach of prevention and treatment programs across the country.
Testimonials from key stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and individuals living with HIV underscore the transformative impact of President Buhari’s leadership on Nigeria’s HIV response.
Dr. Gambo Aliyu, the Director-General of NACA, emphasised President Buhari’s instrumental role in championing evidence-based strategies and mobilising resources to combat HIV. “President Buhari’s unwavering commitment and vision have been crucial in strengthening the healthcare system, raising awareness, and reducing HIV-related stigma,” he stated.
During President Buhari’s tenure, Nigeria witnessed significant achievements in the HIV response, including increased funding for prevention, treatment, and care services, expanded access to antiretroviral therapy, and the implementation of targeted initiatives for key populations. These efforts have contributed to a decline in HIV prevalence and improved health outcomes for those living with HIV.
