Abuja, Nigeria – The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Health, is gearing up to host the 2024 Nigeria HIV Prevention Conference.
The event, scheduled for May 7th to 9th in Abuja, aims to reignite national efforts towards ending the AIDS epidemic in Nigeria. Held under the theme “Accelerating HIV Prevention to End AIDS through Innovations and Community Engagement,” the conference underscores the critical role of both fresh approaches and inclusive participation.
Dr. Temitope Ilori, Director General of NACA, emphasized the importance of the conference,
“This gathering serves as a pivotal platform to unite our efforts and drive tangible advancements in ending HIV in Nigeria.
“By exploring innovative approaches and fostering community engagement, with a particular focus on empowering young people as agents of change, we can chart a new course towards a healthier future.”
A particular focus of the conference will be on empowering adolescents and young people (AYP) as agents of change. Dedicated sessions will explore strategies to equip this demographic with the knowledge and resources necessary to prevent the spread of HIV and lead the fight for an AIDS-free generation.
By uniting key stakeholders and fostering a collaborative environment, the conference aims to equip Nigeria with the tools and strategies needed to achieve a future free from AIDS.
